This is the 15th year for the Barkin' Dog Duathlon, Colorado's largest duathlon, and consistently one of the larest duathlons in the Western United States. The race spent it's first seven years in the small town of Keenesburg, just north and east of Denver, but we outgrew that location and made the move to Cherry Creek State Park in 2006. This race serves as the unofficial season opener for Colorado multisport athletes, attracting some of the top pro's in the country as well as a whole slew of first-time multisport athletes trying something different. If you can finish a 10K, you can complete a duathlon! We hope you'll join us on May 11th for a quality race, a fun post-race picnic, terrific gear drawing, and the start to the 14th year for the Mile-High Duathlon Series!
Complete Race Details can be found on the race website
The Mile High Duathlon Series is made up of three duathlons designed to challenge the hard-cores, while remaining user-friendly enough for the first-timer - and all three events are within an easy drive from Denver.
Some of the top professional athletes in the United States have competed in the series, and more than 2,000 first-time multisport athletes have made their debut in these events. All races feature courses and distances that are achievable for the beginning racer, yet the top elite athlete will find the competition at the front of the pack is a challenge as well. The races offer a fun family atmosphere, good post-race food, and great raffles open to all participants. All participants will receive a custom race tech-shirt.
The series kicks off in May with the Barkin' Dog Duathlon, followed by the Big Sky Duathlon in June, and our final race, the amazing West Side Duathlon in August. A terrific series breakfast follows the September event!
There will be an age-group series, Clydesdale, Athena, Fat-tire, and Relay series, with awards for overall series point winners in each category or division. there will be no elite series in 2013, however we have increased the elite prize purse for the Barkin' Dog Duathlon to $1,000.
